APOLOGIES, I HAVE NONE (31 JAN, THE OLD BLUE LAST)

Apologies, I Have None, a punk-influenced four-piece group hailing from London, came down to open for Man Overboard at the Old Blue Last this past Tuesday.

With a series of pardons, Apologies, I Have None worked their way around the small crowd that sat along the stage. The chatter of the room made it seem as if the crowd was going to ignore the group and leave the band drowning in the blue light that hovered over the stage. However, as the group strummed their first cord the crowd silenced.

A slower tune, with heartfelt and relatable lyrics, started off the night strong. The group blended together a nice set of both upbeat and slower songs, keeping the crowd interested with their harmonies that failed to falter, and solid musicianship. Ending with “Sat In Vicky Park,” their quintessential single, it became clear that they had captured the attention of all in the crowd.

As openers to the show, it was made clear that Apologies, I Have None is a band that remains vastly underrated in their own town. Only a few individuals, including myself, bobbed their heads in acknowledgement, but the interested looks and whispers of, “Who are these guys?” made it clear that this band is one to look out for.
